Dancers of 2022

Jana Phillips & Sydney Hendricks

Team Momma Tried

Jana Phillips was born and raised in Prince George. She is dancing in the 2022 Boogie with the Stars event with her beloved daughter Sydney Hendricks who she refers to as an actress, dancer, and a beautiful soul! They both have supported their favorite charity, the PGHPCS for many years and just this past July, Jana took over the management position for both of Hospice’s ‘Worth Repeating’ resale stores. Jana involves herself in many events around town including the ‘Mr. P.G. Pageant’ as well as working in the film industry, more recently producing ‘Meeting Mr. Christmas’ and ‘Cold Meat’.

As mentioned, Sydney Hendricks is Jana’s daughter and her special partner for her BWTS 2022 Team, aptly name “Momma Tried”. When Sydney was growing up they performed many musicals together. Sydney is an actress who now resides in Kamloops and she is getting married in July 2023. This will probably be the last time that Jana and Sydney get to perform together so this performance is ‘bitter/sweet’ and truly means so much to both of them.

We understand that “Team ‘Momma Tried’ is excited to be representing the PGHPCS in this incredible event”, and you know, we think the Team name could equally have been called “Momma Did It”!

Karen Muir & Steven Foster

Team BIGS Northern BC

Karen Muir was born and raised on a beef farm outside Vanderhoof and moved to Prince George to attend UNBC. She has lived in Prince George most of the last 14 years, working as a designated accountant in the forest industry.

A single mom to two little girls, Karen is passionate about improving the lives of children in our community, which is her motivation to volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC as treasurer. She is happy to be supporting Bigs at BWTS 2022!

Steven Foster was born in Kelowna, and graduated from the University of Victoria with his Bachelor of Education. He and his wife Sandy fell in love with Prince George (and each other of course!), and decided to move here in 2017 where they have now doubled up the size of their family with two beautiful children they are very proud of.

Steven currently teaches English, Foods and Math at PGSS, and writes in his spare time (of which he has none). He has three published novels in a series called, ‘Timeline’. Sandy, introduced him to dancing while they were still dating and he grew to enjoy it.

He told us he is “constantly trying to improve his dance skills, and widen his repertoire of moves”. Well, competing in the BWTS Charity Challenge with Karen representing Team #2 and BIGS is a great way to do that!

Kendal Kershaw & Tyler Sanchez

Team Two Kids on the Block

Kendall Kershaw & Tyler Sanchez are two young entrepreneurs eager to make a difference in the world. Kendall founded her own personal training business, The Little Fit Company, when she was 19 and has been helping people achieve their health and fitness goals ever since. With a drive to help bring joy to everyone she meets, Kendall couldn’t help but join the Boogie with the Stars campaign to not only help raise money for an incredible cause, but to also have an absolutely stellar time doing it with her partner in crime, Tyler. With a history of competing in inter-national bodybuilding competitions and a long love for fitness in all its forms, Kendall is never one to back away from a challenge.

Eager to learn, and become the best he can be, Tyler has embraced the fitness lifestyle and joins Kendall in helping grow a thriving, impactful business in our community. Getting to help bring out the best in the world around him is what drives Tyler to continue his own journey of self-improvement, sharing the lessons he has learned with anyone who will listen. Boogie with the Stars is the perfect chance to learn a new skill, push himself outside his comfort zone and help support the PGHPCS, an opportunity too good to pass up. Together Kendall & Tyler are here to add a little sunshine to your day and do everything they can to put a smile on your face!

Cori Ramsay & Kathleen Angleski

Team Hot Flashes

Cori Ramsay has lived in Prince George for 20 years and is proud to call the region home. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in English and completed her graduate diploma in Public Relations through the University of Victoria in 2022.

Upon graduation, Ramsay started work in the financial services industry and has spent over eight years working in marketing and communications. She currently works as the Lead Marketing Analyst for Integris Credit Union.

Ramsay grew up living in poverty and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those she serves. In 2017, she gave a TEDx talk titled, “Poverty and the Power of the Living Wage,” and in 2018, the Prince George Chamber of Commerce named her a “Top 40 under 40“.

As a Councillor for the City of Prince George, Cori has sat on many committees during her term in office, and amongst several other titles, she was elected to the North Central Local Government Association as President in 2021, as well as serving on the Union of British Columbia Municipalities Board, representing the Indigenous Relations Committee and the Health and Social Development Committee. In the 2022 Prince George Local General Election, Cori was re-elected to serve a second term on council, and now she has graciously committed herself to the celebrated BWTS 2022 New Year’s Eve event, participating in the PGHPCS Charity Challenge in order to help raise funds for a very worthy cause.

Julia Dillabough & Sasparilla Foxx

Team The Foxx & The Hound

Julia Dillabough has got a lot of ‘built-in boo-galoo’, well recognized by her mother from an early age as she was always boogying around the house. From hometown hockey celebrity to community champion, she has lived and breathed community involvement. Julia is the TELUS Manager of Community and Service Excellence for the Cariboo region and currently a board of director for the Quesnel and District Chamber of Commerce. In 2022 she was appointed Board of Director to the Provincial Health Services Authority and more recently joined the 2024 BC Winter Games directorship as the Director of Technology.

When Julia is not at her day job she can be found at her family ranch, Triple J Ranch Trailrides, just North of Quesnel where she enjoys showing off her property by horseback to those horsey enthusiasts who want to learn to get into, or back to, the saddle. Boogie with the Stars is the icing on the cake, so her 17 horses will be whinnying away in support of bringing in the funds for those animals in need, and to kick up her hooves in fun and frolics, dancing the night away!

Julia Dillabough & Sasparilla Foxx

Team The Foxx & The Hound

Sasparilla Foxx (Jessie Herman) attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. Sass danced with several Ballet Companies and on the high seas for Carnival Cruise Lines, only to land right back where she started in her hometown of Quesnel. Sass and her mom, Sandy Herman, have kept the community of Quesnel dancing for over 40 years running the Gold Pan City Dance. Sass is a multi-award-winning artist, more recently winning 1st place in the 2020 Canada’s Burlypicks, and 3rd in the world competition. Sass is the founder/director of The Foxxie Follies and the wildly entertaining Itty Bitty Burlesque Festival that brings in Burlesque artists from all over the world.

When she is not living her life as a dance professional, she is cultivating her flower farm, Chicka D’s Flowers, as well as being a support worker for the visually im-paired. She is beyond thrilled to be slipping on some ballroom heels for this amazing organization, the PG Humane Society. She knows her pooch Gus, will be howling with excitement for her as she lights up the dance floor, showing off new moves and wowing the crowd with her twists and turns and gaze!

Shawni Jewett

Team Prince George Kodiaks Cheer

Shawni Jewett is the cheerleading coordinator for the new and developing Kodiaks Cheer Team. She is Mom to 6 kids, some adopted, some biological, ranging in age from 17 down to 2. She has lived in Prince George for nine years and is currently working as a nursing unit clerk at UHNBC.

She grew up in the Maritimes but has traveled the world, living in Kelowna for many years, as well as Switzerland, Montana and even Australia as an Au Pair. She eventually spent six years in the lower mainland before settling here in Prince George, but still loves to travel, and recently made up for time lost during Covid (as well as having a new baby) with a beach trip to Mexico and a Skiing adventure in Sun Valley!

She grew up performing in a host of different capacities including ballet, jazz, a children’s singing, dancing, and acting group, gymnastics, cheerleading, fitness competitions, pageants and even Ballroom and Latin dance!

Shawni is a bundle of energy and a truly delightful. She says she has missed dancing for too long, so she is very excited to be raising money for the Prince George Kodiaks Cheer Team and the Kodiaks scholarship fund by dancing in the PGHPCS 2022 Boogie with the Stars Charity Challenge (partnered up by the way, with her fully loaded ‘Entourage’ too numerous to name individually).
